Oh, Death Where is Thy Sting?

Oh, death where is thy sting? In Charles Haddon Spurgeon’s sermon, ‘Thoughts on the Last Battle,’ he preaches on 1 Corinthians 15:56-57, “The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But, thanks be unto God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” What we learn is that our victory in Christ removes the sting (or stinger) of death. As I thought about that, I thought about my wife’s fear of bees. I wondered how she would react to a bee – even a swarm of bees – if she knew that none of them had their stinger? Probably no more than she would react to a swarm of flies. Of course, a flies are a nuisance, and so is death, but if the agony and fear of death is removed? Oh death, where is thy sting?
