Millpond Ink Musing – Of Reflections, Part 4

“They that see thee shall narrowly look upon the, and consider thee, saying. “Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;”  Isaiah  14:16

It matters little now; the die is cast, and Lucifer is cast down to be seen by those who were deceived by him. They saw him as he was, the perpetrator of hatred, fear, death and destruction. Man should have known; they should have seen that even as Lucifer once reflected the glory of God, men were to be his reflection. However, not achieving the equality to God as he aspired, what were men to reflect but  his evil, sin and darkness? Yes, darkness, where he could hide from men’s sight and work to bring God down. Yes, God did give Lucifer his way in matters consistent with His divine will; as He did with bringing disaster after disaster upon Job. But, really, could you imagine a world where Lucifer ruled unrestrained?

I suppose Lucifer thought that because God loved His creation so much that He would lower His standards; that God would betray His seemingly contradictory attributes; pitting His everlasting love, mercy and goodness against His divine justice and wrath. Hasn’t that become the standard bill of fare that Lucifer has conveyed to men? O, men cry, how could a loving God ever be a God of wrath? Surely, a loving God… bla, bla, bla; so many today rant; endlessly spinning their words. However, let me tell you a secret: If you add ‘me’ to complete such sequences, their blustering is nothing more than a shifting of blame. We should be crying, ‘O, God, forgive me for I have sinned! I’m to blame… blame, blame, blame, but You, O Lord, took all of my sin upon Yourself! You took the blame, removed my guilt and all I offered was bla, bla, bla. O God, thank you! I’m in your service. Reveal Yourself in and through me!’

Again and again, I’ll say it. Everything that we think, feel, do, touch, taste, hear from the strong man who keeps his property in peace (Luke 11:21), his is a palace made for man’s reflection of him and his fallen glory. That is why it is so important to know who our enemy is, his attributes and devices! There is no middle ground. That is why too many men are deceived into thinking they are Christians but aren’t as they continue to live as hypocrites; men, whose hearts are far from God. Have you not heard that Lucifer can appear as an angel of light? I cannot begin to imagine how many have fallen for that masquerade; let alone the many false Christs that he has mentored and financially blessed and supported through the poor, while deceitfully leading the poor  to believe that they can achieve the same. O, what he will do, and God will allow for now, to keep the peace within his government and palace!

It is mindful also to remember that God has laws; rules upon which men were to live and to be blessed. Lucifer too has his laws… God’s! But his is to tempt men to do exactly the opposite; which is again a reflection of his defiance and rebellion. And that leads me back to what I mentioned in the second paragraph: Lucifer thought that God would love the world so much as to compromise Himself. Well, God did love the world, but what Lucifer did not anticipate was that God would not compromise, but He would condescend; giving Himself as a babe. Later, Lucifer would personally tempt Jesus and he used Judas, one of Jesus’ own in the process, to send God’s Son to the cross! O, what a magnificent feat he must have thought that he achieved! His crowning glory, but what happened? Jesus took upon Himself all of our sins! His death, burial and resurrection only effected Lucifer’s end, and God wonderfully restored His Kingdom and glory through those who are now hidden in Christ in God. His glory, today, is now reflected through us.

Is there any question now how men will see him in light of Isaiah’s passage? Is there any question now how we are told that only a fool says in his heart there is no God? O, my friends, I pray this is not his end is not yours. Reflect on what I’ve written, and may God’s grace draw you to reflect Him!
