It Is God’s to Give

As much as I am grateful
for all the Lord has done,
I am brought low thinking how others,
yes, all men strive — you and me —
against an endless struggle.
Oh sure, you think, that’s easy for you,
and I’d accept the taunt,
but dear Christian, I am not immune,
I could lose all,
but in the meantime,
can you look at my current blessing
as an encouragement to stand fast?
That God’s grace may shine on you too?
Must all be dark? Without hope?
Should I feign poverty to gain a brother? Sister?
Though I don’t believe prosperity is God’s will for all,
I know what I have is undeserved,
I did not merit it.
I stepped out in faith, yes,
but it was the Lord who worked in me to desire it;
then He gave it.
By that be encouraged.
While I’m brought low in humility,
in awe of His goodness and grace,
may you be lifted up.
