Millpond Ink Musing – Into Darkness
“And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient.” Romans 1:28
Without a conscience; which I believe is the indelible fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil that God imprinted on our soul, how can we say that we have a sound mind? What is self control but a fruit of the Spirit that follows the soundness of mind and clarity of the heart? How do we know what is good and what is not? If we wonder why we are witnessing such a rise of evil and darkness in this world today we need look no further but to our own souls to find the answer. Why is it so much more difficult today for even Christians to stand and defend what was once to us as a nation considered wrong; if not deplorable behavior? Today, even the elect are confused. Are we witnessing the fulfillment of our Lord’s prophecy? “For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.” (Mat. 24:24) If the very elect can be deceived, then is it any wonder to see how many fewer today are in church or break bread together at the table as a family? Does a false Christ or prophet need to present themselves as being a Christian? Not necessarily; any who opposes all that is holy, good and acceptable unto the Lord stands falsely.
What are we witnessing today? Is the change in our increasingly godless culture reflective of the Sun of righteousness settling into night; as His light dims across the world? Do we really think this is a setting where a new dawn will appear tomorrow; freeing us forever from a mythical God and entering us into a new age of man? That, or are we on the verge; the very precipice of our Lord’s return? Maybe; maybe not. Nonetheless…
Wise men, those with sound minds and consciences, see by expectation and faith; studying the Scriptures, what may be dawning here; and that for the world at large is possibly nothing more than an ever extended darkness for those who remain asleep.
