Desire the Altogether Lovely

To say here, today, while I am alive,
That Christ is altogether lovely!
How I desire such an expression!
To say with passion! Depth!

No doubt, I’ll say it in heaven,
When I see Him as He is,
In the fullness of His power and glory.
But it is here, on earth – while alive
That I seek such an engagement.
Are we not now betrothed?

Some may ask, why?
Is what you ask to prove your belief?
You ask if I doubt?
No, not at all.
So why then?
Because I know He is here with me –
And I yearn for more!
To taste the sublime, to bask in His light,
Call me greedy, why must I wait?
Does not the bride want the whitest dress?
Drink the sweetest wine? Eat the finest fare?
All of these things, He is!
My righteousness in His blood and body!
Yes, He is altogether lovely.
I simply desire to shout it more.
