Song for the Free, and Hope for the Bound

Charles Haddon Spurgeon preached ‘Song for the Free, and Hope for the Bound,’  on November 6, 1887, based on Psalms 107:14-16. “He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands in sunder. Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! For he hath broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of iron in sunder.” This sermon is as much about why we praise God as it is in thanksgiving. If thanksgiving is not about the light, life, and liberty that God has given us, then we have little to praise him.
