Teachings – Royal Garden

ROYAL GARDENS

UNFOLDING FORTY-SEVEN

WHERE WE ARE

Victory in the garden. Victory in our heart. Death is defeated after Jesus went through the agony and pain in the garden of Gethsemane, saw his disciples asleep when He asked them to stand guard and watch. Resolved then that it was the Father’s will that He gave His life, He went with His captors. He looked across the courtyard when the cock crowed its third time. Peter denied Him.

SCRIPTURE

Jeremiah 24:7

“I will give them a heart to know Me, for I am the Lord; and they will be My people, and I will be their God, for they will return to Me with their whole heart.”

ROYAL GARDEN
UNFOLDING FORTY- SEVEN

“The heart is a little garden, little apparently, but yet so extensive that it is all but infinite, for who can tell the limit of the heart of man, or how far-darting the imaginations, and the affections of the soul of man may be?”

“What must be done to this neglected garden? What heavenly horticulture can be used upon it to reclaim it from its desert state?”

Not only you and I are – those of us who say that our hearts are the Lord’s, but…

“The church of God is a garden.”

And then we learn what the King’s Garden is like. It is a place of –

  • Order.
  • Beauty,
  • Growth, and
  • Retirement.

“The church is a garden, but it is the King’s garden.”

“We are a garden, walled around,
Chosen and made peculiar ground;
A little spot enclosed by grace,
Out of the world’s wild wilderness.”

Pastor shared that the church should have those who –

  • Watch over those who are planted,
  • Collect the straggling,
  • Burn up the rubbish and sweep up the leaves, and
  • Wants new plants.

And what is the purpose of the church? Our lives? To bear fruit.

“Will there be any fruit on that tree this season? It is time that it should show. He looks, and looks, and looks again, and at last the good man says, ‘I think I can see one little one up at the top, sir, but I don’t know whether it will come to much.”

Indeed…

“There is fruit, or else they would not be saved ones, but it is ‘a little one.'”

THOUGHT GOING FORWARD

Our hearts are God’s Royal Garden – a King’s Garden! Collect those hearts and bring them together – however really in a church of brick or mortar or mystically, where God inhabit eternity – and the church is that garden, populated with those whom the Father chose and planted. Oh, how I need to learn to watch over those planted, collect the straggling – yes, in the light of speaking and living the truth of God’s Word, see the burning of rubbish and sweeping up leaves to prepare the ground for new planting. O Lord, grant me – us – the sweetest and most abundant fruit!

IN TRIBUTE TO SPURGEON’S LOVE OF SHORT RYHMES

O Father, uproot and burn that vine
that takes up water, sun, and time.
While giving nothing – no fruit or flower,
the thought that I would even spend…
a second, let alone an hour.
