LEAVES FOR THE HEALING OF NATIONS
UNFOLDING FIFTY-TWO
SCRIPTURE
Revelation 22: 2
“In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.”
LEAVES FOR THE HEALING OF NATIONS
UNFOLDING FIFTY-TWO
Pastor explains where we’ve come and our future –
“That Paradise which the first Adam lost us the Second Adam will regain for us, with added bliss, and superior joy; we shall dwell where a river rolls with placid stream, and compasses a land where there is gold.”
As for the passage from Revelation, Pastor notes:
“In the passage before us we have the tree of life on either side of the river, which I suppose intends that there were many such trees; though there was only one tree as to its kind, yet many in number.”
Pastor then discusses some of the opinions earthly men have on the matter, but concludes of that tree of life:
“At any rate, to all the inhabitants of heaven the tree of life is equally and perpetually accessible.”
And the leaves of this tree is for the healing of the nations, and after his discussion of the well-lit New Jerusalem, he concludes:
“O blessed place, where we shall not need to enter into our closet to worship our Father who is in heaven, but shall in the open street behold the unveiled vision of God!”
THOUGHT GOING FORWARD
A tree of life, bearing fruit monthly… accessible to all of the inhabitants of heaven. Jesus is spoken of that glorious tree of life. Our immortality is in Him. How it is that we abide in Him here, on earth, shall that be the same in heaven? As the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit is three in one, one in substance, but with separate and distinct identities, could it be – abiding in Christ forever – we are in Him but retain our separate and distinct identities? How glorious and mysterious the thought!
IN TRIBUTE TO SPURGEON’S LOVE OF SHORT RYHMES
How glorious the thought that one day soon…
we shall stand before the King!
The healing juices of that immortal fruit
Oh, death, where is thy sting?
