Teachings – Intercourse in the Garden

INTERCOURSE IN THE GARDEN

UNFOLDING TWENTY-FIVE

WHERE WE ARE

We just left the Song of Songs 5:1, where the Bride had just called out for her Bridegroom to come to her, and He came to the garden. How quickly our Lord answers our prayers and comes in sweet fellowship!

SCRIPTURE

Canticles 8:13

“Thou that dwellest in the gardens, the companions hearken to thy voice: cause me to hear it.”

INTERCOURSE IN THE GARDEN
UNFOLDING TWENTY-FIVE

Pastor opened –
“Evidently the spouse held with her companions frequent intercourse – “The companions hearken to thy voice.” She frequently conversed with them.”
He added:
“I hope it is so among those who dwell in Christ’s garden.”
Yes, wouldn’t it be lovely – if not exceedingly wonderful – if believers worldwide could come together without fear… be so bold as to extend fellowship to all?
Pastor asks –
“Do we believe in the communion of the saints?”
If we do, then let us show it. He says, which I find most interesting –
“Thou that dwellest in the gardens, the companions hearken to thy voice. They do not merely hear it, and say to themselves, ‘I wish she would be quiet,’ but they hearken, they lend an ear, they listen gladly.”
The later, he asks –
“Why should she be?”
God gave us tongues. We should use them.
“When God makes bells He means to ring them.”
  • Communications in the garden are very beneficial.
  • Communications in the garden are preparatory for higher communications still! and
  • It is very loving and condescending to us that the Lord should wish to hear our voice.

THOUGHT GOING FORWARD

Now, I must admit early on there was a huge part of me that wanted to clarify Pastor’s discourse thinking how some of us – including myself – can prattle on and on. I have read a number of his sermons when he lambasted those who spent their breath uttering worthless banter!  Then again, if we know that we are in His garden, as with His sisters, spouse – then how would we conduct our communications? Shouldn’t our speech be uplifting to one another? Praiseworthy? I hope so.

IN TRIBUTE TO SPURGEON’S LOVE OF SHORT RYHMES

There’s something about a garden,
where you can hear that still small voice.
No place for idle chatter there,
the Words of God are choice.
