The Bridegroom’s Far Bidding
Song of Solomon 4:8
“Come with me from Lebanon, my bride;
come with me from Lebanon.
Depart from the peak of Amana,
from the peak of Senir and Hermon,
from the dens of lions,
from the mountains of leopards.”
Interpretive Poem
Our Bridegroom’s bidding is spread afar, Lebanon’s mountains and tall cedars echoing His call –
Mountains standing in beauty and strength,
A Temple sweet fragrance of raftered prayers rising above the Bridegroom’s bed.
‘Come down from those snow-capped peaks,’ a cry is heard!
‘Is not My love unbounded by time, height, and length?
‘What if the lions prowl… leopard’s running swift in pursuit?
Am I not here, lo, and with you always?
Will not the lion one day lay with the lamb?’
