New and Old, a Church Intwined
Song of Solomon 4:5
“Your two breasts are like two fawns,
twins of a gazelle,
that graze among the lilies.”
Interpretive Poem
Oh, to drink of God’s sweet milk of love! To grow strong!
The Bride must feed her children with such paps.
For on her breast she bears two testaments: Old and New,
Though it’s said the old has lapsed.
Now, the gazelle – God’s grace – raised separate fawns
Which the Hines and Roe swiftly couriered to reveal,
And the Lily of the valley spread his Father’s long-planted bed,
And Who now grazes among his kindred field.
