Charles Haddon Spurgeon preached Sovereignty and Salvation January 6, 1856 at the Park Street Lane Chapel. His sermon was based on Isaiah 45:22,“Look unto me and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.” In this sermon, he also shares his testimony on how the hearing of this verse to merely ‘look’ unto Christ changed his life.
MY THOUGHT: If God is sovereign… if God created all things by merely commanding ‘let there be….’ if the Bible is the Word of God – written by men, yes, but inspired and God-breathed… if this is true, then the simplicity of the message to only ‘look unto Jesus, and be ye saved’ is altogether understandable because we recognize our utter helplessness before him as sinners.
