Millpond Ink Musing – Of Willful Obedience

Jesus did not reluctantly go to the cross. He went willfully, in full agreement with the Father and the Spirit. This willful obedience was just as important; if not more so, than His death itself. Although Jesus went as a lamb, He had both the power to lay down His life; as well as, to take it up again. (John 10:17,18)

Why is this important to the believer? Because even though we were drawn to the cross by grace, and that by faith… Not of works, we are a new creation and must willfully pick up our cross to follow Him; such is the reciprocal nature of our love for Him.
