Millpond Ink Musing, 2015 – Who Is The Wiser Man?

If our shame was measured in stripes, how many would you bear? Some would bare many out of pride and indignation; demonstrating their personal strength and resolve. That is, until they became numb. Such men in the world are cheered! Others, who felt just one lash, would run to their physician; seeking a healing salve, but those men are called weak and scorned.

Now consider that the man who bore many stripes did because he merited many. However, the one who bore few learned from the first lashing, and that the salve provided by the physician covered all.
