Millpond Ink Musing, 2015 – Of The Flesh

If we do not understand that it was Adam’s sin initially and the continuation of sin in us that caused man’s flesh to betray us, and is now our nearest and dearest enemy, we do not understand our quickening. And, if we do not understand that we were quickened from the dead, and delivered from the sin that made us so, but rather we continue to serve the flesh, then it may be we remain as dead men; lost and subject to God’s judgment. Ephesians 2:1-3

“Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you shall obey it in its lusts.” Romans 6:12

Therefore, If you say that Jesus is Lord, then He should reign and though we fall from time to time, we should not be disheartened for it is written, “For a righteous man may fall seven times and rise again. But the wicked shall fall by calamity.” Proverbs 24:16.

However, the Lord knows His own. As for those who would think to abuse His grace and mercy by allowing their flesh to reign over them? That will be their calamity.

Bottom line? Anything of the flesh…of the heart, mind, senses, passions, or any other inclination that is inconsistent with everything that is pure, holy and good, and known from the Scriptures, run quickly to God in prayer and supplication. This is how we know Jesus reigns!
