Millpond Ink Musing, 2015 – Of Satan and His Goods

In Luke Chapter 11, verse 24 it is written, “When the strongman keepeth the palace, his goods are in peace.” There are two ways that Satan keeps his goods (men and women) at peace: (1) by removing all things that trouble them as a matter of conviction, and (2) by giving them all things that may quiet and comfort them.

Indeed, unlike Job, Satan today goes before God and says that if you give them everything; not take it away, they will abandon their pursuit of you. What makes matters worse the Devil; with God’s permissive will, uses false teachers of the Gospel to mislead many.

As for those kept at peace, it isn’t even as if Satan has to actually deliver! By presenting himself under the Christian banner, his goods are kept at peace under a false hope and promise; while the conscience of the person is kept quiet because they believe God is their deliverer, and they are saved. Of course, when things don’t go so well, there is a spiritual reason for that: your lack of faith!

Amazing, but why does God permit this? Because He knows the hearts and minds of men and will permit them their folly. The sinner in this case gets a twofer: the promise or hope of daily manna (in whatever form), while resting in a false peace. If only they learned from the Book of Exodus that only two of those who ate of the manna entered into the promise land! Of course, they don’t quite see it this way, but if my telling you this rouses some? Awake, oh, Man! Woman! Awake from your slumber and run from your burning house for you are nothing but tinder! Take of the heavenly Manna
