Millpond Ink Musing, 2015 – Of Our Marriages

Let a woman give all of herself; everything that she has to her husband, but if she does so while loving another, once it is known, her husband will abhor her, and she will be utterly rejected.

There are many within the church who are like that woman. Many betrothed were from birth born and told of their wedlock as part of the church. Others, hurriedly married after taking a pang of conscience as a proposal and thinking that consummation. There, in His house, they would remain until an opportunity arose when they could slip out again into the darkness. Others still, saw a benefit to be derived but inserted a pre-nuptial. Their activities were limited to their heart negotiated return on investment.

While each case is different, the real suitor and lover is the world. The interesting thing is that the Father of the Son arranged what marriages would be consummated at the altar of the cross and that before the foundation of the world. Thus, many have labored in vein and their works are abhorred; their prayers are not heard and they will someday hear the Son tell them, ‘I never knew you. Depart from Me.’
