Millpond Ink Musing, 2015 – Never The Silver

This may surprise you but I’m not inclined to say one way or the other if Judas was or was not among the elect of God. Frankly, we were told not to judge in that regard; that is, a man’s final end and of God’s judgment. Suffice it to say, we will probably be surprised who got in and who didn’t. That is, assuming we’re paying attention at what is going on down the line, left and right before the throne, and we’re not quaking in our ‘sin up to here hip boots.’ So, whether Judas was saved or not; I’ll take a pass.

However, I will say this much: There are many who at one time or another professed to walk with Jesus, as Judas had, and later sold out. I’m ashamed to say we all have. It’s just whether; by the grace of God, it was temporary and we confessed and repented. If we are a true believer and sincere convert, we need only look into our hearts through the light of God’s Word, and His Spirit will tell us if we’re still holding any pieces of silver; even as Ananias and Sapphira found out after they lied. Yes, we can be sure that our sins shall find us out.

Let’s just pray that we’ll be shown while there’s time. Otherwise, we wear in our sin the very noose from which we will hang, and while we might have cast the pleasure that we derived from our sin far from us, it was never the silver was it?
