Millpond Ink Musing, 2015 – Ask By Faith; It’s Yours in Christ

For those who desire to serve the Lord Jesus but continue to feel the shame and guilt of your past sins, please know that Jesus bore your guilt and shame on the cross along with all your sins; past, present and future. If you do not know this, we should have told you this! Forgive us.

Forgive us who are in Christ’s body for our reluctance to tell you that all of your sins are forgiven. Why such a soft sell? Because we fear it will lead to cheap grace, and you will continue to sin and not make any effort to obey.

Regardless, we need to boldly preach the wonder of the Gospel and the riches we have in Christ for the ransom He paid! Such riches; extended to us by justification by faith alone, brings to us the remission of all our sins, including the removal of our guilt and shame. If you do not have this, ask! It is yours through the promised sealing! (Eph. 1:13)

As for those who fear this glorious teaching would cheapen God’s grace, it is not the preaching of the doctrine of the sufficiency of Jesus’ blood and the removal of guilt by His Spirit that leads to ‘grace abuse.’ It is the lack of preaching of the evils of sin, the sovereignty and holiness of God, and His justice and wrath that resulted in men coming to believe that the blood of Christ ran thin. Such is contrary to God’s Word and it is likely that those who continue in that course will hear Christ say, ‘Depart from me! You worker of iniquity.’
