There is an Indian saying that one should ‘Never criticize a man until you’ve walked a mile in his moccasins.’ What isn’t said, and what we should understand is that the saying presupposes that the one who takes the walk is willing to empathize—not intellectualize—what is seen and visited. If you want to intellectualize, buy your own moccasins and break them in yourself.
