I Will Not

I will not complain, Oh Lord
despite the times and trials,
I will not rue the rainy day,
or move through a crowd…
eyes lowered, set to the ground –
no smiles.

I will not complain, Oh Lord
though tears well up in my eyes.
For it’s well with my soul.
And Your chastisement, Lord,
I cannot despise,
given the price You paid.
My burden?
Light.

I will not complain, Oh Lord
though my sigh runs deep.
The longer I live, the more I learn
the more I long for but I will not go back
and change a single thing.
for your mercy reigns anew…
Each and every morning.
In that, dear Lord,
I cannot complain but praise.
