For Those Who Have Ears – October 3, 2022

I’m an aging Christian man. I am seventy years old and well aware of Psalm 90:10 The length of our days is seventy years – or eighty, if we have the strength… but I desire to live out the remainder of my life as described in Psalm 71:18, Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come.

I pray the Lord’s prayer. I pray that His will is done on earth as it is in Heaven. Then, I look at the world around me as it is today in light of what is being ‘done’ today. I pray for our nation, our citizens. Even those who do not believe in Christ must see the evil and darkness that has spread across the world and our nation. Is God the doer of this? Yes, in the sense that God is sovereign; no, in the sense that he is responsible for evil. In light of the evil and lawlessness we’re witnessing today throughout the world, the Word of God and the light of a man’s conscience acknowledges our increasing wickedness. Many are fearful. They don’t know what is happening, why it is happening. Well, as I said, I have lived seventy years.  I’m old enough to know that many wanted God out of our Government, our schools, our homes. For decades this atheism has developed – growing more and more foul as a blight… a mold forming in the dark corners of our educational and local, state and Federal governments. What is needed is a bleach… a cleansing of the walls and halls of our rancorous institutions.

As for the good news? The Good News is as the news was delivered 2000+ years ago, when Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God, took upon Himself our sins. His precious blood is the bleach that cleanses the skin and sin of the leper. Will He restore our nation? To the extent that Godly men and women rise up and do the things of God in faith, prayer and diligence, God will bless the lives of those around them and us. Will our nation experience a revival if we, like Nineveh repent? I do not know, is there a Jonah today, or is he aboard some ship? What is certain is that I will die… as we all shall die (if we’re not taken up). I pray to be this generation’s Caleb, but I also know earth is not my home. For those who have ears, let them hear.
