“For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.” Matthew 5:18

During the course of His life, Jesus kept the whole Law of God. Therefore, in dying for us He is our righteousness and sanctification under the Law. We are in Him. We are no longer under bondage to the Law; meaning we are not personally accountable before God in judgment. However, that does not mean we are free to live in whatever manner we choose, apart from the Law, and that is the great mistake that will lead many to the pit.

A true believer and convert will know that it was their violation of the Law (sin) and their shame that God used to draw them and precipitated their faith in Christ. It was their violation of it; not the Law itself that required a remedy. The Law is beautiful, and for them, it was their inheritance because it gave instructions in how to know and worship God. They would say the Law is the textbook image of God; even as they know Jesus and the Scriptures both are referred to as the Word. Being recreated in His image, they know that what Christ accomplished on the cross restored their ability to fulfill it. Hence, Jesus could say that if you love me keep My Commandments.

In sum, God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit; the Word and the Law speak to both the Godhead and the written record telling us of our Creator. A true convert and believer cherishes and prays to live according to the Law; not under bondage to it, but now, as free, it is their textbook instructing them, and us, in knowing how to love Him and for God to restore His image in us as He first envisaged for “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” 2 Tim. 3:16
